Threw a huge surprise 60th yesterday, 18th May, which took 2 weeks to organise. It went off without a hitch, we couldn't have asked for better.
The weather/ date and time was perfect. The sun was out, and the caterers threw in a tent/ tarp shade. It was wonderful that they were so organised.
caterers: Blue phoenix: Vietnamese cuisine.
We had the 15 course buffet which was tastefully prepared.
Dad's friends whom i invited pretty much all rocked up, even though they were given roughly 1 weeks notice. Very, very cool of them to be available for a few hrs.
How did we manage it? GAWD!!
Booked my parents in for a photo shoot with Chantelle (on the disguise that i wanted a commemorative special professional shot of their first grand-child). The shoot was at 4pm Saturday afternoon, (which i was able to thankfully book us in at the last moment). I arranged it so we could come and view the pictures on Sunday from 10:30-11:30am, hence giving the caterers time to set-up and guests to arrive.
I dragged my parents out of the house at 9:30am, feed them a light brekie + coffee.
The actual viewing of the photos and selection of framings etc... took a lot longer than i anticipated, but it worked out for the best, as my dad's friends were travelling "asian" time.
I will not forget my dad's surprise expression/ comments as i drove up the drive-way. He was freaked out by the huge catering van (thinking we were being robbed - hmmmm) and then "SURPRISE" ..... all his mates/ family friends were there, wishing him a happy 60th!
Note: It was his 60th in April, but as I was in the States, it was only privately acknowledged, hence the huge BELATED 60th BDAY. My Father had a wonderful few hrs, chatting, drinking and smiling :) He was surely SURPRISED!! YAY!!
