first brush with the LAW....

Facts:
Day: Monday Afternoon
Time: 4:45pm
Place: Rengstorff perdenicular to Charlston
Reason: Had to drop off gym clothes for Charles b4 i headed to work

Event:
Traffic lights were red.
Police car was behind me corner of Rengstorff and Charleston.
Traffic lights turned GREEN.
I inched halfway across the intersection and the LIGHTS started BLINKING and the whole HIGHBEAM action...

Thoughts: (Wat the hell?)

Event continue:
Signalled a right indication to pull into the Curb...
Lights still flashing etc...
Roll down my window..
A lady cop steps out and heads towards my car.
I said "Hello"
She said "Are you aware your Brake lights are out?"

MY FACE : BEWILDERED!

Event continues
"No" in a my replied/surprised tone
"The right side is out" she confirmed.
She then asked to check my Drivers License to confirm that was "real"
Handed her the card...
She headed towards the patrol car..
I STEPPED OUT of my car to check that the light was broken/ OUT
I looked, it looked fine, then i realised i had to step on the brakes to find out! (Blonde Moment!)
As i was heading back, the lady officer told me to STAY inside the car.
Actually it was "Please return to your vechicle"

THOUGHT: CRAP - that was a wrong move.... (reminded me of the MEET THE FOCKERS SCENE"
Scary business...

Event Continues
She came back and handed me my license.
She said "Two things - never leave your vechicle, because i might not know why you stepped outside - you could pose as a danger to me. Secondly, you have to step on the brakes in order to see that the lights are out.."
She then proceeded to tell me to get it fixed ASAP - and was kind enough not to write me up a CITATION... (anyone know what this means?)
I thanked her and drove a few more metres to meet Charles..

Wat a day!

Update: Lights fixed Tuesday morning for $7.99
